Paulsen Programme (London School of Economics): 15 Fellowships for early and mid-career historians

The Paulsen Programme at LSE, funded by the Dr. Frederik Paulsen Foundation, has been set up to allow historians in Russia to realise their full potential in their research and to enable them to make a powerful impact within the worldwide community of historians. Though excellent scholarship is being undertaken by young and mid-career Russian historians, they often lack the opportunity to travel outside Russia to consult archives and libraries and to participate in scholarly discussions at a formal and informal level on an ‘international stage’. This also means that non-Russian historians often do not have access to their research. The basic aim of the Paulsen Programme is to address this problem. The fellowships and conference grants it offers are open to all historians in Russia who are working on the period from the mid seventeenth century down to 1918. In other words it includes both historians of Russia and of other regions of the world.

The Paulsen Programme will provide up to 15 fellowships for early and mid- career historians in Russian academic and educational institutions each year from 2018/19 to 2022/23 to Russian historians whose research requires them to work in foreign archives and libraries. 

Applications are invited for fellowships for the academic year starting on 1 October 2018 and ending on 30 September 2019. 

The deadline for applications is 31 July 2018
